Current bid is $6.25 a chip........ Interesting.......... Very interesting

Yeah, I don’t see people rushing to sell out your TRK SETS
It’s almost like They don’t view them as a status symbol because of where they would be buying them from
And they won’t get the clout showing them off over there

@upNdown is spot on in his assessment. I e said it for YEARS and YEARS, but only get railed on. People view Jim like he’s some kind of God. I have had ZERO bad dealings with him, and I’m sure he’s a great guy, but all this nonsense about him bringing chips to the community at fair prices is total BS. The guy is an astute businessman. And a damn good one at that. So good, he has numerous people thinking he’s doing it for them. I’ve got some oceanfront property available, by the way.

As for the chips goi g to the landfill…absolute rubbish. There’s plenty of others in the game that would grab them. I think it’s pretty well known Jim has the contacts and, once again, great business sense to make it happen. Anyone that thinks it’s for anything other than making big bucks is a moro…extremely naive.

And yeah, there have been people over there who said that they have tried to get things at the same sales or whatever but chip room always ends up with them Probably slightly higher offers
I know that someone else tried to get the Elsinor chips But he somehow beat them out of the deal

From the manufacturer a chip is a chip. Doesn't matter what denomination is printed or stamped on it. Price per chip is a set price. TCR crushes it on the higher denomination chips. Here is the Hollywood set of 500 chips he offered

He is also selling the 25 & 100 chips for $1.99/chip.

In the above set that accounts for $696.50 of the $1650 meaning the 170 remaining chips (500 & 1000) cost $953.50 or $5.60/chip. He certainly didn't pay more for the 500 chips than he paid for the 25 & 100 chips. Possibly more for the larger 43mm 1000 chips but that's unknown. So the casino sets a per chip price for the sale. For argument sake let's guess very high at $1.00 each. That would make each of the above sets sold generating $1150 in profit. And he's buying 10,000 chips or more usually? Jim's doing just fine. I've got a great set of Diamond Jacks from him that I love and is now worth a bit more than I paid.

You sure about that? I guess there’s a premium on the $1s because there were so few of those, but he was blowing out the $5s and $25s for a buck apiece.
I don’t think many of the chiproom releases of the past couple of years have risen in value.

Don’t get me wrong, the Diamondjavks were great chips for a fair price. But when market went crazy, Jim raised his prices - the Jumers were overpriced but people bought them anyway (and then couldn’t sell them.). I think he actually dropped his prices a bit for the DiamondJacks. I don’t believe they’ve appreciated in value, but our market has bounced around a bit over the past few years, so who knows what the next few years will bring.

RHCs have definitely been the most negatively affected from Tina-dominance. I do think they are low-key now the best value chips out there if you are patient and not going after HSI/Jack Detroit.

I'm about to blow up my RHC lime relabel project but it was so cheap it's hard to (just trying to scale down sets I won't use or are currently dead-weight).

He cleared out his DJ inventory at $1 each on the $5 & $25 and guys were flipping for $200 (or trying to). Originally the $5's were $1.59ea.

Oh I know very well. I bought six racks of $5s at $1.59 because they were such a good looking $5 at the right price. Then a few days later I remembered I didn’t like RHC and immediately tried to sell them, knowing I’d take a loss. I had to drop the price to $1.19 before I got a buyer. But then when I saw them at .99 apiece, I felt a little better? Ha. Bottom line, regardless of what the market does, those were great chips for the price.

Only TCR set I’ve ever owned. I think I was into this set for about $800ish. It’s also the only set I’ve ever sold, the $5s were absolutely beat to shit.

Looking back it was such a great deal and I didn’t care how much wear and tear the chips got. Was nice not worrying about the abuse.
I never participated in another TCR sale because of the chaos that always seemed to take place during the ordering process.

All in all though, some great deals if you could get your entire order through day of sale.

I remember that one well, probably because it was my first. Those THC $1s were 59 cents apiece. I think the $5s and $25s were .69 and .79 respectively.

Remember how filthy those chips were? Nastiest thing I’ve ever seen. They literally stuck together. I felt uneasy bringing them into my kitchen to clean them and I am far from a germaphobe.

But yeah I eventually sold for the same reason - the RHC $5s and $25s were heavily casino used and didn’t even feel like clay.

Worse than Lake Elsinore? They were so bad it's what caused me to finally buy an ultrasonic vs hand-cleaning. Smelled like smoke/casino too until fully bathed. But 89c/chip was pretty absurd relative to current FMV at the time. People hate used chips too much.

Jim’s probably got a bit of an advantage in that arena. He’s got a ready, willing, and able clientele that he knows he unload the majority, if not all the chips in a weekend. He’s got the trust of those buyers who don’t hesitate to pay him $$$’s of dollars in advance.

He’s got the process down, so he’s probably willing to bid a bit higher than others b/c in effect, he’s got a lower “perceived” risk.

There could also be the industry reputation, he shows up on time, pays on time, loads his stuff and goes. Lower perceived risk for the seller as well (depending on how the sales are structured).

I think PCF would do just fine without him and his chips, personally.
You may do just fine without him, however I don’t think that necessarily translates to the broader PCF sustainability though.

Minus the occasional NAGB (which does seem more frequent lately) where do the chips come from that sustains the classified. A very large number of the chips trading hands on PCF originated from a TCR sale.

Take that away and I’m not sure PCF stays at the current level of participation/membership…?

Can’t say for sure cause I never owned any LEs. What I can tell you is the hooker juice on the $1s and $5s was absolutely disgusting.

Other than a few chips here and there, I never wanted to clean another chip again after that experience.
Fortunately I went with the secondary $25s which were all mint, the secondary $100s and $500s were also minty clean.

What shocked me was that the primary $500s were just as bad. Actual clumps of black grime making the chips stick together. I can’t imagine - if you’re playing with $500 chips, you’re something of a high roller, and getting a stack of the filthiest chips imaginable? It was strange.
