Fake chips from Real Producers!

He’s been a chipper longer than you and I have. And as you said, one of the allures of spending tons of hours and cash on your cpc customs is ending up with a set that’s unique to you. Then to have someone ask to copy exact, get told no (I even offered my services free to help him come up with something just as great and uniquely his) and then they say nah fuck that I don’t care I’m going to copy multiples anyways. It’s a shit precedent to set.

Yeah maybe I read into it too much, but I wasn’t the only one. I even had a couple of people actually text me and say something along the lines of that being surprising to read from you.

But I’m sure you were just jumping in to congratulate on a new cpc set. I only even brought it up because it seemed very much unlike you in every way being the unique creative cpc whore that you are.

Oh I was never thinking YOU would copy an exact chip like that. Might be miscommunication here, but all I’m trying to say is it seems like you were condoning exact copies. Which was shocking to me to hear from you.

Ya I meant zero disrespect by it. I was just excited for a guy who had a new set haha. Didn’t even give it much thought.

Fair enough. I would never condone exact copying. Example. Remember when I pitched you my “Stuck On Broadway” set? With the stage spotlights? My concern was how close it was to that other set I came across that used stage spotlights on it. I don’t remember what set it was though. You didn’t think it would be an issue. I abandoned that project for others but it definitely stuck in my mind as being too close. I’m all about tributing real casinos but never someone’s personal customs.
But I do agree on a 4 color chip there are multiple ways to use the colors and shouldn’t be exact.

I’ve mocked up chips and sat on them thinking they look familiar; after some digging, I find something similar. There are some great color combos and patterns out there that stick with you. Totally sucks he asked and you said no- it’s a real complement to the set that he grabbed multiple chips. Heck, I’d be so lucky if someone copied one of mine! :ROFLMAO: Wonder how many folks directly copy and just don’t share….

I think that’s just normal and going to happen with the limited colors for patterns like 4d14, 414, qpie etc. The pm exchange we had is what made it worse. Could have easily created something with similar feel just as awesome with the services I offered for free.

I guess the logic just doesn’t make sense to me. A big part of going cpc is having something you created and love that is uniquely yours.

And I get the color combo thing.. but swap the pattern or something lol
 
Pathetically begs for permission, is told nah and is actively offered help from what most would uncontroversially label as a/the top designer around, secretly does it anyway without further communication and drops it in a reveal thread with a lead-in trying to justify or rationalize the aforementioned, and then has people (coincidentally mostly German ones :unsure:) defending him.

Again, I get copying one chip's colors or making something extremely similar, but it's fucking over fifty percent of the entire set, being two exact same chips on the same mold with the same alignment in the same order, on an insert pattern that has a ton of flexibility, happening after what I outlined in my first paragraph.

....and here I thought it was stupid and unnecessary that some veteran members hide or don't share their chips.

I'm typically not a ranter but this whole situation was just off from the get-go.

At the end of the day everyone is out for themselves. Sure, we may be cordial with people and build some sort of relationship but that doesn’t matter. It shows in everything. This situation, secrets with NAGBs, sales outside of the classifieds, “dibs” sales vs “I’ll choose who I want to sell to” sales, etc, etc. the list goes on. Do I think that makes any of us bad people? Not at all, it’s just the way it is. And I’m fine with it.

This is a good perspective but I don't know if I totally agree with the first three sentences, at least on an individual/smaller level, although I do more or less see that sentiment reflected in a more general sense with regard to the overall community.

There’s always going to be shades of grey with everything. Again, I don’t think it makes anyone a bad person. Do I think a lot of it’s bullshit? Absolutely. Am I part of the problem? Absolutely. None of us are bad people, but none of us are Saints either. That’s why I love and hate everyone equally haha
