I also must have mistook the jealousy part, was that referring to "ME" being jealous? and of what exactly? not pursuing a GPI buy or owning the NAGB chips @jhelik ? Because at pushing 70K casino chips I'm certainly not jealous. If it's the profits you're suggesting, I applaud the creators for extracting that money, BRAVO, but my accounts are fine without gouging folks of their hard earned money, especially at times like these for fantasy chip sets that have no casino connections or valuable history.
nope, was trying to be humble when you thanked me for my insight, and tried (unsuccessfully) to say that the business person in me is jealous of those who can make such a quick and painless profit.

LOL Human Nature I guess in that respect!

It was a comment about "academic" jealousy of something that can be sold for 3x, 4x, 5x costs with almost no risk. If I truly wanted to do this, i guess I would.
Fair enough, I guess from that viewpoint sure. As someone who enjoys a side hustle or two - I do respect being able to find an edge!

Continuing to share my "fantasy" of doing this....having my wife and kids wake up some day and notice the furniture, car, toaster and the dog have been sold to fund my buying 100,000 chips to resell for an instant profit. So...maybe there is some non-market risk here "you spent how much to buy how many chips???"

That adds a reflection point now doesn't it!! As you mentioned before, previous deals are loaded with conjecture and speculation and no proof will likely be seen but I think we all have our suspicions of who is usually involved in the finance of the latest 2 or 3 NAGB, someone with a very large disposable or "investment" income, my guess is a comic book super hero, but who knows..... Others financed through a type of crowdfunding. In the end I still believe that they are all done with the goal of getting a new set of great chips for free and doing some extreme profiteering along the way. It's definitely better than a stock market deal as the parties definitely have "insider information"

Again, I don't approve or disapprove, I just think they are over priced for what they are, fantasy chips with no appreciable history and controlled hype that gets everyone in the FOMO mode.

Imagine if GPI researched this and got back in the home user market at $4 a chip! That would really be a market reset!

They won’t - the home game market is minuscule compared to the commercial casino market.
Hence I used the word "Imagine" Certainly they won't! and all the 100-200K chip orders from the profiteers would instantly dry up!

Interesting reading. 100K chip order of fantasy chips? Where do they all go? And assuming a simple double the money, for taking the risk, the distribution and all that, that's potentially $300,000 profit for a $300,000 investment risk. But since the system seems to be, they are pre-sold, and there are people who are in line, waiting, but can't get them, the risk seems to be greatly reduced.

True you can get real chips from real casinos, for less, but not in this quantity? :)

And others funded via their own hard earned money.

I’m a man of my word and I made some promises from the get go so I won’t share any hard evidence (just the same as I would with any of you guys), but a lot of chips were well over $3. That doesn’t even include shipping, crating, or the “artwork fees” they charge. Maybe this was due to the spot resurrection I don’t know. There was seemingly not too much rhyme or reason to the pricing. Still strong profits I’m not denying that. But I’d hate to run a strictly for profit buy any time soon with current GPI pricing. I don’t see the % being too high for future buys at this time. I now understand why casinos will continue moving away from clay at those prices too.

I did make a couple of trades (not even initiated by myself) for some grail leaded chips I’ve always loved with some of my tigers, but no wild profiteering here. I can’t deny that seeing the amount of money was crazy and made me question what I was doing for a moment not selling chips. But I think that would be the same for any sane person that spent a SHIT TON of money on chips with their own hard earned dough. Not to mention spending every waking hour of free time working on the project for months.

Again, YOU DID GREAT! And the point taken on pricing and the like. This thread was simply a response to a question from another platform and not to tear down the chips or especially your involvement as I believe you're as good a guy as they come and an awesome chipper! I've also made some suppositions here that may or may not be accurate. I view this forum as more chip oriented than buy/sell oriented and while there is sections for that here its not the focus I envisioned. Theres plenty of places for that and Tommy certainly has captured the venue for selling chips in bulk and there is dozens of personal sites for singles and the like along with eBay and the rest!

Appreciate your input here!

Of course. I didn’t view it as a tear down at all. Just correcting information that I can as I see it. Although I can say it a thousand times and people will still believe what they want despite me never giving anyone reason to think otherwise.

There was no krish investment either. He had no clue about them and owns only exactly 2 racks. And that’s only because I gifted them to him for free.

I have many regrets from my visits to LV in the early 1990s, but the largest is that I never visited the Paulson retail store where they sold chips at a price of....I'm not even going to say it out loud.

I was speculating on the RPC's but maybe he wasn't in on that either.... Who knows..... I know its a huge investment! but with little risk and great reward.......

Then, there is the "secondary market", previously chips once sold out were flipped days, weeks or years later in stored "Mint" condition upwards of $2000 - $2500 a rack. It's a good gig if you can slip an order past Paulson/GPI. With the frequency that its happened and the increasing quantities ordered and delivered I'd have to think that GPI doesn't care much about producing them. A singles collector told me he couldn't believe that the chips were on the Hat and Cane mold because the Nevada Gaming Commission "required" GPI to restrict the use of this mold to Casinos only, well, this must not be the case because I would think that once the NGC saw all these chips they would investigate and hold GPI accountable, I've heard nothing of this happening.
