What does it really take to obtain the unobtanium? Can it still be done?

I just came up with my own unobtanium stuff and then went after that. Other folks may not like what I have, but I like what I have. That's all that matters to me.

I got to touch @BamaT8ers barrels….

I’m also very new to chipping compared to many in here (ovo said 2006!!!), but as a new chipper, I still get geeked out and grin when I find my chips. My only two current sets are casino lead. Aside from my CPC tournament set being made, I don’t really want anything EXCEPT historic chips.

My HotRod set alone is a casino/cardroom museum. I prefer owning chips with stories and souls built in.

Definitely, not one but two sets in 2 years (and too much money). A lot of folks helped out along the way and a lot of folks didn't. Paid top-dollar in most cases but that is what it takes... No regrets!

You put your heart and soul into those sets Dave and honestly, I don’t know if I’ve ever seen anyone work as hard as you did trying to make that journey a reality.
Lots of respect and a huge congratulations to you. Just amazing what you’ve got there.

I think the real question is, is it worth the cost?
That’s a good question and my response to that would be, is it worth it to climb Mount Everest?
To many and probably the majority of people that answer is going to be NO. But to some, it’s truly not about the money as much as it is about challenging yourself to do something unique and personable.

I’m of the opinion and I think there’s quite a few here that would agree, when it comes to this hobby, there is NOTHING more challenging than recreating history. It takes much more than money and connections, it actually takes a piece of YOU!

Am I Right J10suit3d? :ROFLMAO:

Boxcars RivieraDanny! I told ya so! ;)

That's true and likely the part I'm missing (inner drive to complete something super rare). I'm a poker player who likes to collect chips just so I can play poker. At a certain point they chips get so difficult/expensive to collect I just move on to something else.

The whole reason I ever even fell into this rabbit hole is because I started hosting a regular poker game, then found I needed chips. That game has be going strong for almost 10 years now and playing different sets in regular rotation, including the TRK's... they raise a game to a whole new level!
