The Chip Room just recently picked up another stash of chips. This time, right here from my locale, Harrah's New Orleans (now Caesar's). Looks like THC hot stamped tournament chips, with edge spots. I'm not sure if they're leaded or not, but still nice chips and he says they're in great condition too. I don't think TCR is a vendor here, but he's on another forum and if you're on his email list, you'd probably be notified of the sale. Good Luck, they go very fast.

Are they still using the Harrah’s house mold chips? I always thought they had a nice lineup.

I haven't been in there for a few years and it's been re-branded to Caesar's. Maybe I should make it down there to check out the new Caesar's chips.
The chips in this sale are definitely THC and I believe the higher denoms are the larger (43 mm?) IHC chips.

I ripped this pic. Fairly simple edge spots but hey, who's too picky to dig these? Especially if they are priced "right". The 5k is oversized IHC and I think there may be a 25k IHC chip too.

The chips look to be half decent and the IHC are sweet! I'll be following along.
TCR sales are super tough and the break downs are often tough to navigate with restrictions on certain racks (which I understand)

I’m very curious to see the pricing. TCR has gotten more and more agressive with pricing over the past couple of years, so much so that their past couple of RHC casino rollouts have actually been bad deals.
But these chips - leaded THC spotted tournament chips with a recognized casino name - are super premium. I bet these things will be offered at or near Tiger prices.

I'd pay a premium for a T100 set. Problem is that I'm not sure if my non-caffeinated 4am fingers would be fast enough to scoop a set anyway. Lol

He’s announced that he’s auctioning off the leaded sets, so it looks like my prediction of tiger prices could have been an underestimate. But it will be interesting.

What's he going to do.. weigh every chip? Maybe he has a quick method other than that, to tell lead from unleaded. Oh well. This freezes me out. The non-leaded chips are still nice THC molds. But the more I look at it, the edge spots and colors aren't spectacular and they're all hot stamped. I don't think they can be relabeled without milling. So, I don't think I'm going to sit there over my keyboard to wait for the sale to start.

There are two different stamps for each denomination so it's pretty easy for him to ascertain which chips are the heavy/leaded chip and which chips are the potentially non-leaded/lighter chip. I say potentially non-leaded as both versions are heavy, the heavier version is like 11.5g/chip and the lighter version is like 10.5g/chip.

So does anyone else think it's complete bullshit and a ploy to get people to bid way high on these auctions by not telling the public how many sets will be available

It's 100% a mechanism and approach designed to extract max value for the heavier leaded version and to then be able to use the auction prices and how many people were serious bidders in the auctions as a data point to set the asking price on the lighter (but still heavy) version as high as possible, e.g., at a price that is relatively high but low enough to still sell out the second version via the regular sale. I wouldn't go so far as to call it complete bullshit since he's not under any obligation to release quantity numbers, he's not making any false statements, and one can guestimate the numbers based on the photos and see that the quantities are relatively low, but by not releasing the exact quantities he's clearly not being remotely transparent, his approach likely manipulates perceived FVM in his favor, and he is solely focused on extracting max value for the first version of the chips while also gathering information from those auctions to set the price point for the regular sale as high as possible while still being able to sell out the second version. I'd call it going full capitalist vendor mode, which some people would understandably call complete bullshit in view of how TCR sales used to operate.

Lol that's the longer version that I was avoiding typing out
As much as I want to participate I just dont see these being affordable. I do understand a vendor making a profit, but I have to imagine he paid > $3/$2 per chip + his fuel and time...
*sigh*

How did TCR sales used to operate?

Generally speaking, there was no sorting, and no auctions, just a big sale and pretty low prices back to date. Often times there was primary and secondary sets offered. Similar set up, add the items to your cart, go to check out and pay via paypal. I don't think he ever disclosed quantities until after a sale. But this is the first time he's doing the auction format for one of these sales that I know of
