Okku's Historical Casino Videos & Random Fun Stuff

Today we quickly talk about my thoughts on what seems to be that ceramic casino chips are becoming the new norm. This is something that I'm not fond of, but if it's going to happen then it will. There are a number of casinos that have switched over to ICON ceramics recently in Nevada/Las Vegas like Golden Nugget, Palms and El Cortez. I know they are much cheaper than something like a Paulson that all of those places were using for so long. There are also a number of casinos that have switched over to a RHC hot stamped $1. Those places being Caesars Palace, Park MGM, Flamingo and most recently Bellagio. I hope those places stick to the Paulsons and don't switch to something like a ceramic chip. Let me know your thoughts in the comments! Hope you enjoy!

What are Icon's made of? They aren't really "ceramic" like chipcos, they certainly aren't clay, they are kinda a plastic but not like bud jones or matsuis, and they aren't light like unicorns...I have a stack of them here as I type this and I really don't know what to call them. Help please

I'm not really sure what exactly they are. They almost like a smooth type of ceramic or something similar.

"Icon custom poker chips are a proprietary blended ceramic poker chip. They are center-formatted for full-color printing and are the only chips that are digitally printed in the center."

Today I reflect and look back on the 1st annual CC&GTCC convention that happened at the Aladdin Casino that was located in Las Vegas. This was the first Casino Chip & Gaming Tokens Collectors Club convention that happened in 1993. The CC&GTCC was founded by Archie Black in 1988 in response to the continuing evolution and popularity of chip collecting. Since 1993, the CC&GTCC/CCA has had an annual convention in Las Vegas where collectors are able to meet others, trade, buy and sell chips, tokens and any type of casino memorabilia that they have. Chips tend to be the most popular but you're able to find collectors for anything at this show. I've been able to go the back 2-3 years and it's been absolutely incredible. I've had so much fun, learned so much information and have been able to meet people across the world that I probably would've never met otherwise. This year will be the 30th anniversary of this 1st convention and I'm hoping that it's going to be an absolute blast. I'm looking forward to all of the fun things that happen during the show, who is going to show up, what seminars there are going to be and more. I'll of course be on the look for TRKs and other goodies as I usually am. Hope you enjoy!

Today we talk about the "French roulette" jetons that were used at the Paris Casino in Las Vegas for a short period of time. I believe they were originally introduced in 1999 and the table/jetons and plaques were only in use for a few months. This was something that normally isn't offered in Las Vegas or the United States. Very few casinos have had plaques and jetons in use. Only about 4 casinos that I can think of have had them and they are the Sands, Sahara, MGM Grand and Paris. I don't believe any other casinos have had any, but I may be wrong. The Paris jetons go from $5 all the way up to $1000. $1000 and $500 being the hardest ones to find. There are 3 versions of each; solid, three stripes and 4 half-circle edge spots. Some are more sought after than others, but they are all in high demand. Something if you don't have in your collection I highly recommend you trying to get at least one. Most people don't know that these casinos had these items in use and it can be a fun card guard, talking piece or just amazing piece of a collection. Hope you enjoy!

Today we quickly talk about how there was recently a Diamond Jim's Jackpot NV chip hoard found and posted online. The hoard was found by a user on PokerChipForum as they were inherited from their grandparents. After the user found a bit more information they said that their grandparents used to be friends with the owner of Diamond Jim's, who after the casino closed left the chips with the user's grandparents. It's basically an almost perfect cash set to play with on a small table. The set consists of 1 rack of $1s, 3 racks of $5s and about 45 of the $25s. These aren't the more expensive version of these chips, but they are still quite expensive and not something you see regularly. The $25s are the real money here as they normally sell for around $80-100 per chip. Such an awesome find and something that I would love to own as I have a soft spot for older vintage chips. SO COOL! Hope you enjoy!

Today we are doing a part 2 to the "Most INSANE TR King Casino Chips Sets Ever!". In today's episode we talk about some Kings Crown hot stamped sets, some of the sets that I mentioned in my Kings Crown video from the other week, some Nevada Club sets, a Money Tree set and more! This one is a good one so I hope you guys enjoy. This is all made up of hours and hours of sitting on PCF and looking at these sets. I could do it for days, but I'm not sure if I'd ever get anything done at that point. Let me know which one was your favorite and let's share this with everyone!! I'm going to start looking into other manufacturers too like Paulson, Bud Jones, Matsui, Abbiati and more here in the near future. I think that would be a very fun idea.

Today is a quick video talking about the recent SNCCC meeting that was on Tuesday where I was the speaker. I talked about who I was, a little bit about my background, where I go to school and how I got into the hobby. Afterwards we had a little Q&A session where there were tons of good questions regarding the hobby, the future, set collectors, how I can use my graphic design degree in the hobby for the future and more. Overall it was a very good time and I enjoyed being the speaker. Won't be the last time I do it and I hope those that went enjoyed!

Today I quickly talk about my recent trip to San Diego with Aili and our daughter. We decided that it was time for a family trip as both of us needed a vacation badly and thought that San Diego was the perfect place to go together! We checked out Sea World, the Zoo, La Jolla, Old Town, Belmont Park and so much more! I had an absolute blast with them and I really didn't want it to end.

This is the 2nd installation of "The Chiplist" which is the new series that I've started going over weekly eBay auctions and some of the nicer chips that have been sold. This week there were some chips that I had never seen before like a Sands Race and Sports Book $1000, Golden Nugget 50c and a few more. Some of the prices I was pretty surprised about and the chip market is still going strong which is good to see. I'm very excited to see more chips coming onto the market in the near future and what kind of goodies will come out of the woodworks. Let's keep chipping fun!
