Wow. What a hoard.

@MakeChipsLeadedAgain Chipguide has started rolling out Hoard Alerts on chips.
do they define hoard? as they are singles colectors it makes sense to me as a neutral that is something they would want to track closely as it affects value dramatically etc as they tend to be more focussed on the value of their collection.

as a set builder myself, we get excited when more chips are found as it gives us an opportunity to build a set. Ive also noticed set collectors seem to be less concerned about the value of their sets as most often than not we build them to actually use.

i may be wrong but my gut instinct is that these type of threads are an attempt to mock the chipguide rather than be useful to the members of the community that you are trying to build here.

If the goal is to have a more positive community vs the claimed toxicitiy/drama filled sites over at TCB and PCF then shouldnt this forum look to avoid this kind of "behaviour" itself as it risks turning into the very thing they are criticising.

feel free to delete this post if its considered derailing this thread or not in the appropriate thread. Im happy to have this conversation in the appropriate thread or not at all. i just wanted to respectfully share another perspective and try to contribute to the success of this place.

I see the thread as not mocking the chip guide as much as the focus on the targeted chip owners. By posting the hoard alerts they are shooting themselves in the foot If they count on value of the Chips such as the sands find by Krish, by their “definition” should be in the guide then also with said alert.

One of those hunderds sold for 5k. Had the alert been posted it wouldn’t have brought that is my bet.

Again, this is a discussion relevant to sets or singles. Not toxic but rather an important discussion to have. Is the chip guide a guide to determine value or is that the purpose of the chip rack? And other value guides.

A hoard alert definately speaks to value.

Krish also posted El Cortez, Milton Prell’s El Capitan, and my favorite El Cortez.

Now that there is a confirmed hoard, I bid $3.50!!!

Dave is a stand up guy and the thread is totally appropriate. I think the thread aptly points out the absurdity of hoard alerts. There is no way to verify them or check they are correct. The first try was an utter failure listing the Hotel Nevada $25 as a hoard when it clearly isn’t. They should use their limited resources on listing relevant chips and verifying submissions and NOT worthless hoard alerts or over 1500 of CPC trinkets. IMO
