Sorry, been gone all day and just getting home. I’d be happy to post the entire conversation from start to finish and show exactly what was said and done by both parties. It seems this has finally prompted a response, which is the first I’ve had since August 4th. Unfortunately, it was just insults, chest pounding and ended with “send the chips back and you’ll get your refund”. Since this is the first I’ve heard from him in nearly two weeks and the tone was anything, but confidence inspiring, I’m not sure what to do, tbh. The whole fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice thing. If the situation was reversed, I’d have refunded him immediately, apologized profusely and paid for shipping. Clearly, we don’t see things the same way.
But, to answer your question, no refund has been given or even offered until today. And only once I’ve paid to ship the chips back to him and have zero recourse. At least now I can sell the things and recoup some of my losses.
His most recent communication until today, from August 4th, implied he had no intention of refunding me. If he wants to continue down the insults and threats route, I’ll do as suggested and Name and Shame. I’ll post every single communication both here and on PCF and let the court of public opinion decide. If he would like to rethink his position, possibly reread our conversation and decide how that looks for him, I’d be content to resolve the situation amicably. Seems to me that since I paid for the chips he never possessed in good faith and he’s had that money since July 25th, he should issue a refund to me immediately and once I receive funds, I’ll return the chips. That’s how the purchase was made. Why should I be the one to have to have faith in him to issue a refund and send the chips before hopefully he does the right thing?
I may be the new guy, but I’ve bought over 60k worth of chips, shufflers, cards and various items in the 4 months I’ve been on the forums. I have dozens of happy buyers and sellers. In fact, I recently refunded a purchase to a poor guy in Portugal who got ripped off by his government and UPS. It’s not entirely clear what happened, but the chips I sent him were destroyed in transit and he received roughly 2/3 of what I shipped. When he filed a claim, UPS asked him to return the package, which he did. They then returned the mostly destroyed box to me for some reason. Anyway, I could say tough and it’s not my fault, etc. But, I felt the proper thing to do was take up the fight with UPS myself and refund his money. My integrity doesn’t have a price, but if it did, it would be significantly more than $500 or whatever. So, I refunded the purchaser and in spite of none of the issues being my fault, have apologized repeatedly for the aggravation we’ve both endured. Seemed like the decent and human thing to do. Fault be damned.
Anyway, we shall see what the person who shipped me the wrong chips ultimately decides to do. It’s funny to me that he’s not said a peep until I made this post and now I have his attention. So far, just enough to insult me, my heritage and my home state. But, even that’s an improvement over being ghosted. Maybe he will refund the money, including the return shipping and apologize for the insults, holding my money hostage for nearly 3 weeks and wasting my time. Then again, monkeys may fly out of my ass. As poker players, you decide which side of that seems like the safer bet.
