I mean the address alone with the warning that the site is not secure should tell me to stop visiting! It’s antique. It’s disorganized. And most importantly it has those few agitators whose mission in life is to troll. Ie. this Freedner ass hat. He just can’t help himself from acting like a child intent on agitating.

I hadn’t logged in there as there’s no good that comes from it but when the likes of the dishonest folk like Kaplan “the image thief” it’s best to stay away.

Unfortunately these people with their big mouths appear as the “voice of the hobby” and the membership by keeping them in their positions agree by silence. They are afraid of they say the truth Kaplan will destroy the chip guide and they feel they have to put up with him.

Remember. There will be elections where we all can change this type of behavior by placing stewards of the hobby vs. leaving the protectors of their profit folks in charge or the likes of some of these self important hats.

I for one can no longer participate while folks like this hold positions in leadership of the club and its divisions.

I will focus my promotion efforts in the SNCCC !
A club that focuses on the hobby not the bs.

I don’t know who the fuck is who when it comes to the old guard…. But I’ll say this.

The old guard isn’t that great. From the jackals who have formed a weird group of “community meetups” who all circle jerk one another’s beliefs and feelings and suck off virtue from their own cunts…

To the “chip museum only” collectors who hate sets and hold some gatekeepers mentality about who gets to know what about chips and thinks their collection is for “special members only” and nobody else.

I’ll admit I’m not the average chipper personality, and I don’t blend well with the general humans involved in the hobby….

BUT…

I also think if people can stop being pecker nuggets and embrace the love for chips, no matter how enjoyed, is still the love for chips…. I’d love to see, one day, chippers become the “community” they all preach about and I have yet to see.

I don’t think it ever was…. I think it was a hopeful dream that actually never happened. Can it be? I’m willing to try….

I never get tired of sharing these!

I can’t say I really know much of anything about the “Chip Board” or its members. What I can say based on the relatively short time I’ve been active in this hobby is that it’s become way more business like and way less hobby like.

I’m pretty sure that just seems to happen in a lot of things once everything becomes about money and not so much about what it is that some of us actually have a passion for.

My original intent when I found this hobby was to collect poker chips that ultimately would enhance my poker experience and bring a uniqueness to my game and to the players I enjoyed sitting with in my game.
Never looked at it any deeper than that but realized as time went on that I was quickly becoming in the minority of thought within this so called hobby/business.

It’s too bad GOOD things shift to a different way of thinking sometimes but that doesn’t mean we have to give in to it.
I guess I feel kinda fortunate on one hand that I got in and found what I wanted when I did and I’ve found my own contentment with the sets I have. The desire to amass anything else at this point has no appeal what so ever.

And thank goodness for that. Like many things in life, we reap what we sow and if we truly want an answer to it, it can be found in the closest mirror near by.
Got what I needed, got out and couldn’t be happier for it.
It’s all about the card game for me.

My great uncles game. Just a bunch of retired police officers and military guys that had been playing together with those same chips for about 40 years.
I used to call this the retired municipal workers game.

Same crazy dealers choice spread limit stakes they had been playing together since the late 70s and early 80s.
I got to play as regular in this game for about 18 years and was very profitable after they kicked my ass for about the first 6 months.

But yes, same large Greek key clay chips they used for as long as I could remember. And hands down some of the most fun I ever had was sitting with these guys at that table.

Should find out what happened to those chips Tuna. I would happily clean them for you... man the stories and memories they could share!

Soo many love bright fancy edge spots... ya know, what all the cool kids want!

And old school set like that from a 30 plus year game that ran all the time! Screw the spots! Those chips have the memories, and being a relative and a game you played in... if at all possible I would try to purchase or get them. In the long run they could easily wind up being your favorite chips.

I have said it many times... my dad bought a set of interlocking Bicycles at a yards sale in one of those spinning racks when I was a kid. We played on that crappy set of red/white/ and blues every damn weekend for years.

For a single picture of a Saturday night and all of my family playing (including Grandad before he passed) and that set of chips... I would seriously trade all the chips I have.

So stupid how easy it is to take pictures now compared to back then... just one picture and I would be content.

Old school casino awsoness is great! But doesn't beat those old school family poker memories for me!

Was that scene taken when you walked in the room?? :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
OMG…….that scene was different variations multiple times a session. :ROFLMAO:
Nothing like getting called a bastard, a cocksucker son of a bitch, a fucker and many many other variations of those words combined while you’re raking in a $300 pot.

Game would have been right up your alley @The Chip Spa. Two of the guys, Carl (directly on my left) and Charley (taking the pot) were in their 80s when I recorded that video.
Game started at 9am on Wednesdays and those guys were never late.
