The thing about collecting tokens, which I happen to have a few hundred of, is that they get banged up and generally look pretty terrible. Also there are no new tokens being minted...nobody is posting pics of the newest tokens that are being allowed in Nevada, as they do of chips. So I tend to stick to silver strikes which are pretty and silver, or at least the old ones are.

I agree. Nice and shiny is better!
They also look nicer and holders.
However somewhat like chips people still want them and collect them collect them even if they show some where in tear

And for some long gone casinos that is really the only thing left...have a few golden goose tokens, but I'm never going to own a chip from there.

I think there is only one golden goose chip known in the hobby. I could be wrong, but that was my understanding a few years ago.

I believe you are right...I like how some newer people pick up James Campaglia's book and note the price last achieved for this chip, and then talk endlessly about this "most expensive chip"...and I know that the word "hoard" is loaded these days, but if I owned that chip I would worry daily that in someone's basement there are a few hundred of these.

I agree and that’s part of the gamble in collecting casino chips

That is why my money is in beanie babies...no...wait...my money is in baseball cards...nope...my money is in my wife's purse...there we go!
