This idea has been kicking around in my head for 12 months or so. It actually predates my Lake Kawana Club.

I really like the idea of a Cali coloured cash set with a 3D14 spot pattern. Think Huntington Park, Lakeshore Inn or Camino Casino and California Bell Club (to a point).

To compliment the aforementioned “Vegas themed” set, which admittedly does cover 5c to 5K, I’m working on a .25/1/5/20/100 set.

Spot colours are fluid at this point but it will definitely be Red/Blue/Yellow/Black/White or variants there of. I think I’ve got the inlay pretty close to where it should be but, as always, I’m putting it out to the chippers to critique and supply suggestions on improving it.

I’ve whipped up two (similar) versions so far so let me know if I’m hitting the mark. Ideas on fonts are appreciated also as that is one area that I have struggled with.

IMO really good start. I like the wave background with the 3 waves superimposed. I think you're correct in experimenting with the fonts used. A font can relate a different "feel" to a design but I don't have any particular recommendations yet. It all depends on how you want the design to look: formal, playful, bold etc.

Yep, I would have to agree the three waves allows for better spacing.

I guess I’m going for a more elegant or classy vibe with the font. And little old school.

If that's the case, I actually like what you're using for Lakeview.
Another idea would be to do something similar to what I did with my Louisiana Poker Krewe design: You can enlarge just the "L" and have it wrap under the a in "akeview"... or something like that. A lot of it is trial and error, but you've got to be willing to try something weird perhaps 🤪 .
But I do like what you have already. (y)

No, it’s fine. I just know that a few folks get all high and mighty about some molds and not others.
I get it..... It shouldn't restrain your participation and quell your expression of great chip design.

Not everyone agrees with everyone and acting a fool on a forum because you don't like a design or mold is BS. I think its more about Orange vs. Black that they protest and not the "molds"...... I think that the admin and some of the users at 🍊 feel "threatened" that their control of the sets world and its related "Pricing" (Moreso) is "slipping away" so they feel the need to silently protest (PCDC). After all, with as much hate as the CD draws, I see none directed at things like the Web Mold or the Tangiers mold etc. which is EXACTLY the same stuff.

In the past ban at PCF essentially silenced you out of the sets hobby and from its participants so the ban was powerful. With the birth of Chip Donkeys (defunct) and HPF, Home Poker Forum (defunct) and now PokerChipper.com (alive and well) that control is quelled and the ban far less powerful and that's why I believe it is far less used over there as it has become pretty meaningless despite some of the "old guard" refusing, for one reason or another to not participate here. I respect anyone's decision to be "loyal" or to simply not like PCDC or even myself, that's on them. I think we're having fun and developing a nice hobby resource here and hope we can continue to grow this community together for the betterment of the hobby.

There's different styles between the forums, one difference being about profit and monetization and one trying to be hobby centric with no real attempts to "profit" from its members. I'm sure there are good and bad opinions about both places and that's a members right to their opinion. Its not really a contest or competition, its just 2 different styles of trying to grow a resource and community for the hobby and all in it. There's no member banned here other than a reported spammer which was warned not to solicit members, they got an explanation and a 7 day time out, it is an Alibaba type business, which are more than welcome to ask for a vendor forum and participate in conversation here but realize spamming and unsolicited sales are not allowed.

I hope more folks join here and the silent members begin to participate more as that the fun stuff that keeps the hobby alive! There's a great "cast of characters" in our hobby, lets have fun!

They look better here as they have the C-D overlay. I left it off over there so as not to trigger the haters.
I think that was a savvy decision. Why bring the crazies down upon yourself?

I agree with this observation!
I'd like to respond to this from my perspective:

1) "the old guard"? THEY are NOT the "old guard" even though they think they are. I was around at the beginning of ChipTalk and was interested in these things before that. I do not claim to be the "old guard", I'm just an internet user who's interested in chips.

2) I don't understand any concept of "loyal" here. If you are a "Chip nut" with no agenda, more resources are better, right?

Simple, I know, but that's it because I don't have an agenda or an "ax to grind".
